In favour of marking one of Denmark’s oldest preserved royal castles on the world map, Nanna Fog Lund, has contributed to the future visual identity concept for Nyborg Castle.

The castle on Funen dates back to before the year 1200, and is currently undergoing restoration, which will set new standards both for the construction of a new museum building, and for the future visualization of history.

At this unique site, surrounded by beautiful walls, kings and queens have made influential decisions, and shaped Denmark as the country we know today. These historical wall decorations are the inspiration for the conceptualization of the new visual identity.

The concept was unveiled at Danehof 2022, an annual medieval festival, with 30.000 international visiting guests. Thereby, a connection and common thread was created through the visual communication between Nyborg Castle, Danehof and the surrounding town. Thus, the overall concept – in its striking recognizability – ensured further contemporary storytelling. In the near future, the project will unfold under the hashtag #LetTheWallsTell.

The project has been made in collaboration with Director of Østfyns Museer and former Head of Cultural History at Nyborg Castle, Mette Ladegaard Thøgersen, as well as the tourist agency, Visit Nyborg.
